Why should you hire me?
Why should anyone hire me for that matter?
Every year there are thousands of students graduating with degrees across the Country. Each of them are expecting to ‘make it big’ because, oh boy, they got a degree! The problem is that the majority of these students have no experience in real world business. Sure, throughout University you manage a few real-time cases or create marketing plans for some large corporations. But how many of these marketing plans are actually implemented? From my experience, most clients never see the marketing plan in the first place! Nevermind implement it.
So we have all these newly educated students that think they know everything, but have no experience in the corporate world.
This brings me to my point, Experience. My biggest differentiation factor is that I have worked in Sales & Marketing for over 7 years while completing my degree. I managed a full-time job while going to school year round in the evenings. Not only do I have strong time management skills from this constant balancing, but also high efficiency and prioritization skills.
Throughout my time studying marketing I have had the chance to implement many of the new tools I’ve learnt. With this came a whole new learning curve of ‘trial and error’ which gave me a chance to test my skills, rather than think I was an expert with no experience.
Over the past 7 years I:
- Managed a major corporate sales account in the furniture and electronics industry
- Assisted with the sales and marketing of a multi-million dollar company
- Worked for the Government of Canada, recruiting over 1000 employees for the 2011 Census
- Assisted in managing a hiring team at Census that exceeded benchmarks set by head office
- Managed all Marketing for a travel company
Finally, I have experience in running my own company. I am now in the process of taking ownership and running STS Tours, a company that specializes in group travel.
